Als Stanley Zbornak war Herbert (oder Herb) Edelman der einzige Schauspieler, der durch die ganzen sieben Staffeln von “Golden Girls” immer wieder zu sehen war. Geboren 1933 in Brooklyn wollte Edelman zunächst Bauer werden. Er studierte ein Jahr lang Veterinärmedizin und Landwirtschaft und ging danach zur Armee. Zurück in NYC versuchte er sich als Schauspieler und lebte vom Taxifahren. Er wurde, der Legende nach, im Taxi von Regisseur Mike Nichols entdeckt. Der gab ihm eine Nebenrolle in der Broadway-Produktion von Neil Simon´s „Barefoot in the Park“ (mit Robert Redford). Edelman spielte diese Rolle von 1963 bis 1967 und wurde auch in der Filmversion des Stückes (mit Redford und Jane Fonda, unter der Regie von Bea Arthurs Gatten Gene Sacks) eingesetzt. Edelman passte von seinem Typ her (zwei Meter gross, grosse Nase und bereits Glatze) so gut in die Stücke von Neil Simon, dass er auch in den Verfilmungen von „The Odd Couple“ („Ein seltsames Paar“, 1968) und „California Suite“ (1978) besetzt wurde. Durch die 70iger Jahre trat Edelman in unzähligen TV-Serien („Happy Days“, „Love Boat“, „Fantasy Island“, „Maude“ etc.) und TV-Filmen auf. Aber auch auf der Kinoleinwand war er in Nebenrollen in grösseren Filmen zu sehen, wie in „The Way We Were“ („Cherie Bitter“, 1973, mit Barbra Streisand und Redford) und „Front Page“ („Extrablatt“, 1974, von Billy Wilder mit Lemmon und Matthau). In den 80igern war er besonders oft in „Mord war ihr Hobby“ zu sehen und durch die Besetzung als Stan Zbornak erreichte er den eigentlichen Höhepunkt seiner Karriere. Er war für „Golden Girls“ auch zweimal für einen Emmy nominiert (1987 und 1988). Zudem war er simultan zu den „Golden Girls“ auch regelmässig in der Serie „St. Elsewhere“ zu sehen. Nach den „Golden Girls“ trat er fast nur noch im Fernsehen auf und spielte noch in ein paar Filmen mit. 1996 starb Herb Edelman mit 62 Jahren an Lungenkrebs.

Is irgendwie komisch, jetzt die DVD's zu sehen und dann zu lesen, dass einige der Darsteller schon nicht mehr am Leben sind!!

GEhört zwar nicht ganz in diesen Thread, aber eben lese ich dass Brent Collins - hatte in "Eine ganz kleine Romanze" den Dr. Jonathan Newman gespielt - auch schon tot ist . 1988 gestorben .

(Die Serie ist schon so lange Zeit fertiggedreht; dass man sie immer noch gucken kann, spricht für sie Mr. Green ...und dann noch trotz der Klamotten aus den 80ern!)
